Cats and Mice
You know the saying... "While the cats are away the MICE SHALL PLAY!" That is what has been going on around here lately. While Matt and Brynnlie are gone... Gavin and Mommy PLAY!!! It has been SO MUCH FUN having time with just Gavin and I. We read books and The Friend, color, chase each other around the house, go to the park, snuggle, go shopping, and he helps me in the yard or clean up the house and make dinner. It is amazing what this 1 on 1 attention is doing! He seems be on an accelerated learning path. He is telling me all sorts of stories and saying words and sentences that I didn't even realize he knew. I am so absolutely in love with my little boy and I love spending quality time with him!

First Day of School and TWO TEETH!
When she was tested the week before school started her teacher jokingly said that she could just skip kinderten and go to 1st grade! lol She is super smart and Daddy has been helping her learn how to read every night before bed this summer. They called me later and told me that they are putting her in a class with some other kids her same level so that she can be challenged this year. She really loves her teacher and loves having LOTS of friends.
Matt and I volunteer in her class so that we can make sure we know what's going on. I do it twice a month and Matt goes once a month for 2 hours. Needless to say, it makes Brynn very happy! :) When we asked her what her favorite part of her first day of school was she said, "When my Mommy and Daddy both came and picked me up from school!" hahaha (Matt snuck away from work for 15
When I dropped her off the first day she went up to the other kids and asked them what their names were and told them her name. She asked them all if they'd like to play with her and it just melted my heart. We are so proud of her for being friendly and doing her best at school!

Brynnlie's 5th Birthday
Brynnlie turned FIVE!!! I still can not believe it. Time flies way too fast! She told me that she wanted a strawberry shortcake birthday. She also said that she wanted her very own steak at sizzler and wanted to go miniature golfing. hahaha
I had to sneak in her room the night before and take a picture of her sleeping the last time as a 4 year old.... (crying)
She woke up to a vanity, stool, and mirror and was so excited that she got what she asked for. She can now put "make-up" and jewelry on 26 times a day. :) hahaha
She opened up a present every couple of hours all day so that she could take time to play with each item. She loved it!
Daddy got off work early and took us to Sizzler. Brynnlie loves Sizzler because of the salad bar. There is nothing she won't eat as far as vegetables go. She is the Vegetable Monster at our house. We didn't think she could eat an entire steak all by herself but she definitely did!
Afterward we went miniature golfing and we had a lot of fun! I actually beat Matthew by 2 points!!! (I still have the score card on the fridge to remind him. HAHA) Brynn really thinks she won the whole thing though. She actually did get a hole in one and we all jumped up and down and screamed. :)
We invited some family over for strawberry shortcake and Brynn opened a few more presents from her Grandma and Grandpa. She told us it was the best day ever!

Preschool Graduate
Our baby girl is finished with Preschool! I have to admit that I teared up a bit when I dropped her off for her last day of preschool this morning. Matt and I and Gavin came back to her school an hour later for graduation. She did a really great job with all of the songs, sign language, and stories.
I told her that she needs to stop growing up so fast and she said, "Mom, you knew when you had me, when I was a baby, that I would grow up!" hahaha. We are very proud of her. She is very excited for kindergarten. She and I went on a bike ride to her new school last night so she knows where she will be going in the fall. I can't believe that it's been 5 years since we were blessed with our beautiful daughter. We love her with all of our hearts.

Gavin's 2nd Birthday!
Gavin turned 2 today! He woke up to a bedroom full of balloons and Brynnlie and I sang Happy Birthday to him. He got out of bed and we danced around the room kicking the balloons up in the air. He giggled and immediately knew this was going to be a special day. I asked him how old he is and he put both of his pointer fingers up and said "TWO"! He ran into the kitchen and saw his birthday decorations and yelled, "BIRTHDAY!" (sounded more like BIR-DAY!) We took his new 4-wheeler off the table and he jumped on it and pushed all of the buttons and laughed.
We took Brynn to school and he sat in his chair and ate breakfast while I filled and iced his cake. (I made the layers last night and froze them so they'd be easier to ice... and it worked!) I kept singing happy birthday to him and after a few times he started singing happy birthday too. We picked Brynnlie up from school and ate lunch. Daddy came home early and we blew PURPLE bubbles outside (what a fun mess) and drew with his new side walk chalk all over the back porch.
Gavin and Daddy took a nap while Brynn went to her friends house to play and I went to get my hair cut. Gavin slept some more while daddy took Brynn to tumbling. After naps and tumbling we ate hamburgers at the park and played on the jungle gym and watched a soccer game. We came home and Gavin finished the dinner he didn't eat at the park. Every time he ate a bite he could get a sticker to stick on his face and arms. He loved that game. After dinner Grandma & Grandpa came over with a couple of aunts and uncles for presents and cake and ice cream. He LOVED his chocolate cake and ate the entire bowl! He played with his new toys while we talked. He got in his jammies and sat on Grandma's lap to read his favorite book "THE BIG RED TUB!" He laughed and laughed at all of her noises and expressions.
We washed his stinky feet and Matt and I took him in his room to go to bed. We said, "I LOVE YOU! and he said, "I WUV U!" We both kissed him on his cheeks at the same time and he smiled. We said a prayer as we held him between us and we thanked our Father in Heaven for this amazing miracle we have been blessed with. We could never have dreamed up this life of ours and how happy and blessed we are with our two beautiful children.

Spring Chickens
This year Easter was spent at Grandma & Grandpa's house in the country. We rode 4-wheelers up in the hills, snuggled up and watched "Puss n' Boots", went to church, and had a delicious dinner made by Grandma Kay. It was very relaxing and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Cute Kiddies
Just wanted to post some pics of our kidos. We wanted to see what Gavin would look like with his hair parted. It stayed this way for about 2 minutes because his 2 cowlicks in front and 2 cowlicks in back push his hair in every which way (thus, the reason we keep his hair long :)).
Of course Brynn wanted in on this action and did her "thang" up on the counter top. hahaha

Snow
We finally have a little snow to play in. It only lasts a few days before it melts but at least we can make use of our snow clothes and get some fresh air! :)

Laundry Room Project
On Monday I decided to build in a "thing-a-ma-bob" in our laundry room. On Tuesday I went to Lowe's and had them cut all of my wood and I had the whole space built in by the time Matt got home from work. He loves these surprises.... hahahaha (sometimes). On Wednesday I painted it all day long. And now I am so proud of myself that I can't handle it so I'm going to share a picture with you. ;)
Brynn is excited that she can hang her back pack and coat up all by herself and can put her boots in the little cubbies. I am excited to find some cute baskets to put on the top shelf to finish it off.

Years Ago...
...I was never that girl who chased boys. Most guys annoyed me (and I'm pretty sure that my best friend and I annoyed most guys). I went to great lengths to make sure I was unavailable for random dates (i.e. made sure I had a boyfriend, ran outside the apartment when they called, danced with girlfriends at dances during slow songs so that I wouldn't get asked (don't ask)). But about 10 years ago I started feeling slightly different. I remember spending Christmas feeling a little lonely. I had a dream one night that I was in a movie theater and, as I was looking across a huge crowd of people, I saw a tall boy who stood out among the rest and who had noticeably LARGE eyebrows. I woke up and told my mom about my silly dream and the tall boy with big eyebrows and then went back to school and forgot about it.
I sat at a hockey game with my friends a few weeks later... and noticed a handsome guy walking toward us. I tried to ignore the pull I immediately felt towards him. He sat down right next to us with his friends and started watching the game. He was so good looking and man alive --- those lips! I whispered to my friend, "That boy has got the nicest lips!" I was distracted, uneasy, wanting him to notice me! (My life long DON'T CHASE GUYS rule was rapidly disappearing.) I slowly started changing my position on the bench and then a few minutes later scooted to the bench below to get a better angle. My friend asked for my USU card for some reason and I noticed that when I handed it to her he perked up a little bit. I remember that we talked a tiny bit but soon the game was over and we left. I didn't think I'd see him again.
As fate would have it, I practically ran into him on my way to my business writing class the next Monday. He asked me for my phone number but didn't write it down so I sat down in class knowing he'd probably already forgotten it. Days went by and he didn't call. Three days later I lay in bed in the morning and yelled to my roommates in their bedrooms, "I wish Matt Miller would call me!" My roommate yelled back from her bed, "Somebody with that name called last night." My other roommate yelled, "I wish I had a million dollars!" .... silence........
He called again that evening and asked me out on a date for Saturday. It was the first time in my life that I recall being SO excited for a FIRST DATE. I still remember exactly what I wore and the butterflies I had when he picked me up. I was grateful that it was a group date. We went to The Mandarin Garden for dinner (never have liked most Chinese food but didn't mind). I ate off his plate and he gave me a weird look (should you not do that on a first date? oops) We went to the outdoor ice skating rink below the temple and skated around and around. He ended up holding my hand! (I soon found out that it was because he wanted to clothes line some little kids who were bugging us) Afterward, his friends asked what we wanted to do next. They asked if it was ok with Matt if we went to his parent's house to watch a movie. That seemed a little awkward to me since it was our first date but I was just so happy he held my hand that I was on cloud 9 and just going with the flow. We picked up a movie at Hastings (The Glass House... booo) and went up and watched it at his house. He held my hand again during the movie; this time with no gloves! SO ROMANTIC!!!
I came home that night and lay in my bed thinking about how magical the night was. How much I liked this boy. I had no idea why at that point but it felt right. We met up at my friend's house (he was her home teacher) that Sunday to watch the Super Bowl. We didn't actually watch the game.... I talked to him and stared at him and tried to tickle his feet. HAHAHAHA~! I know! I can't believe it myself.
(yes, this is me... I know, hard to believe ;))
Anyway, 10 years later, I really can't explain how lucky I am. We didn't really know each other very well when we got married (we dated 6 total months before getting married). I'm not sure how I lucked out in getting the perfect match for me. I don't like to talk about it a lot because I know that not everybody has a husband like mine but to celebrate 10 years I'm just going to let you all know, my man is AMAZING! He is driven. He is intelligent. He works hard at home and at work. He does the dishes every night along with the laundry. He gives me a kiss each morning before he goes to work (as I lay dead asleep in bed with rank breath). He rubs my feet and my back without being asked. He is super hot (I won't even go into that). He wakes up early on Saturday to mow the lawn/ shovel the driveway/ scrub the floors/ start on the list of home projects I have written for him.
One of the biggest joys I have had in the past 10 years is watching Matthew become and enjoy being a Daddy. Our kidos Jump For JOY when he walks in the door each night and Saturday is well known as the day "DADDY GETS TO STAY HOME ALL DAY!!!!" He takes the time with them to make them feel loved and special. He loves to get them giggling. He loves to read them stories before bedtime. He loves to give them hugs and kisses before they drift off to sleep.
I am so blessed that I can say he loves me with every fiber of his being. I can tell in the way he looks at me. I can tell in the way he serves me and always does what he knows will make me happy. He truly is my MAN. I am so grateful that I get to be married to him forever!
We have not had an "easy" marriage (Is there such a thing?). We fight. We disagree. We have had difficult, heart breaking things happen. I have sobbed my eyes out in his arms. We are SO GRATEFUL for all of these times! They have made us stronger as we have learned to make up, say sorry, find our common interests and beliefs, hold each other up and encourage each other, and especially kneel and pray to our Heavenly Father for help and peace.
I love you Matthew Miller... giant eyebrows and all. :) I am eternally grateful for our first 10 years! You are my best friend and I am yours forever. I love you always, wifey.

We love Valentine's Day around here and we're having so much fun making some crafts to decorate our home, heart shaped sugar cookies, and home-made valentine's for family and friends.
Below are our cards for this year. We cut a hole on either side of Brynn's hand and stuck a lollipop in so that it looks like she is holding out a sucker. They turned out so cute and she can't wait to share them with her class and take a few around to her friends.

1st Christmas Home
On Christmas Eve we headed up to Grandma & Grandpa's house for dinner. They made their famous prime rib which turned out delicious as always. After dinner we watched the grand kids put on the Nativity. Grandma & Grandpa had taken all the grand kids to their house for a "dress-rehearsal" earlier in the week. Brynn said it was a lot of fun and they got MCDONALDS! It paid off because the play had several "scenes" and was pretty impressive. :) After the play the kids all opened their first present from their grandparents.... SURPRISE -- Jammies! We put them on and headed home so that we could get Santa's cookies & milk put out by the fireplace and put reindeer food outside on the lawn (sparkles mixed with oatmeal).
This year was our very first Christmas in our own home! It was amazing to wake up in our own beds and have our kids come snuggle with us before we went down stairs to open gifts. It was very relaxed and our kids are at such cute ages. They weren't in a hurry to open their presents.
Our babies right when they woke up. They're ready to see if Santa came. (This is Gavin's new "camera smile". hahaha)
They opened their stockings and one present before we had Daddy's Famous Crepes. Matt had set up the table for breakfast and made the crepe batter the night before.
We then went to Sacrament meeting and enjoyed some amazing talks and songs. It was really neat to have church early in the morning and sing songs and here stories that remind us of what Christmas is all about. Brynn sang "Away In A Manger" the rest of the day. We came home and got back into our jammies and went downstairs and opened up the rest of our presents. The kids wanted to play with each toy and read each book before opening up another gift and we had SO MUCH FUN watching them!!!
I made my first Christmas dinner and it turned out pretty good if I say so myself. It wasn't super fancy but it was a really relaxed meal and we enjoyed it together.
Chris & Ellie came on Christmas afternoon and stayed the night! We always have so much fun with them and love them SO much. We felt pretty darn lucky that they would share part of their Christmas holiday at our house :).
It has been a FANTASTIC Christmas! We are so grateful for our babies who make the Christmas season sparkle!!!

They opened their stockings and one present before we had Daddy's Famous Crepes. Matt had set up the table for breakfast and made the crepe batter the night before.
We then went to Sacrament meeting and enjoyed some amazing talks and songs. It was really neat to have church early in the morning and sing songs and here stories that remind us of what Christmas is all about. Brynn sang "Away In A Manger" the rest of the day. We came home and got back into our jammies and went downstairs and opened up the rest of our presents. The kids wanted to play with each toy and read each book before opening up another gift and we had SO MUCH FUN watching them!!!
I made my first Christmas dinner and it turned out pretty good if I say so myself. It wasn't super fancy but it was a really relaxed meal and we enjoyed it together.
Chris & Ellie came on Christmas afternoon and stayed the night! We always have so much fun with them and love them SO much. We felt pretty darn lucky that they would share part of their Christmas holiday at our house :).
It has been a FANTASTIC Christmas! We are so grateful for our babies who make the Christmas season sparkle!!!
